September 8 – the National Day of the Russian Federation at EXPO-2017 – will be remembered for its large-scale celebrations, events throughout the entire area of the exhibition, and its business program.

The National Day started with the plenary session: ""Clean" Energy as Investment into the Future" as a part of XI KazEnergy Eurasian Forum partnered by Russia. 

The celebrations began at noon within the territory of EXPO-2017. Welcoming remarks were made by Askar Mamin, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Arkady Dvorkovich, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

The artists aged from 9 to 80 years old demonstrated a diversity of Russian culture. They performed modern and classic musical pieces. L.G. Zykina State Academic Russian Folk Ensemble "ROSSIYA" together with Alina Domracheva, a participant of Voice Kids Project, sang a Valenki Russian folk song. Altai State Youth Ensemble of Songs and Dance representing the culture of Altai Krai, presented their “Garmoshki” (“Harmonicas”) dance. And CoffeeTimeBand Project performed the official song of Astana EXPO-2017, thus wining the hearts of the audience of the ceremony. 

The final chord of the ceremony was played by the participants of the largest EUROVISION-2012 Song Contest, the most popular babushkas in the world – the Buranovskiye Babushki band!

After the ceremony a national parade solemnly walked across the entire area of EXPO-2017, accompanied by a brass band and flags of all regions of the country. The parade in the shape of the Rossiya icebreaker finished its march in the atrium of the Russian Pavilion, its arrival being marked by the cannon-shot from the artificial snow. Georgy Kalamanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the General Commissioner of Russia at EXPO-2017 led the official delegation to the exposition. 

Celebrations and concerts were held within the entire area of the exhibition centre throughout the day. 

The EXPO-2017 International Exhibition official closing ceremony will be held on September 10 at the exhibition centre. The celebration will include a large-scale show involving 2,232 people, including official representatives of the participating countries and volunteers.
